Program Summary
Information Technology and Network Administrator
Bay River College’s one-year Information Technology and Network Administrator diploma program prepares students to confidently tackle the day-to-day responsibilities of managing computer information systems for businesses of any size. Graduates of the program will be prepared to deal with an organization’s need to optimize and maintain their digital and hardware infrastructure.
Students in the Information Technology and Network Administrator program get the working knowledge of Local Area Networks (LANs), its application within Wide Area Networks (WANs), and their inter-connectivity to nodes, servers, and other end-user devices. Students will also become familiar with web server management and its connectivity to local networks. Students can expect to learn a variety of essential IT skills, including managing system and client software, web page integration and creation, network security measures, user accounting and monitoring network event logs for problem resolution.

Information Technology and Network Administrator students complete their education with 200 hours of practicum experience.
Information Technology and Network Administrators manage the computer network for a variety of organizations. Almost every medium- or large-sized business needs a dedicated IT specialist. Graduates of the Information Technology and Network Administrator program can expect to be eligible for many positions in the IT and computer networking fields, including network designs and integrations, Internet web technicians, LAN technicians, data center operators and network administrators.
Admission Requirement
Standard Admission:
- Optimum age requirement is 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or
- High School Diploma equivalent will be from other provinces in Canada, or
- Successful completion of the Bay River College Admission Test (Wonderlic Test) minimum score required (310) on verbal skills exam, or
- A Canadian Language Bench mark 5 or equivalent (TOFEL, IELTS)
- Successful entrance interview with Bay River College Administration
- High school diploma and transcripts will be verified.
Mature Admission:
- Minimum age requirement of 18 years or older.
- Have been out of school for two years.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, or
- High School Diploma equivalent will be from other provinces in Canada, or
- Successful completion of the Bay River College Admission Test (Wonderlic Test), or
- A Canadian Language Bench mark 5 or equivalent (TOFEL, IELTS)
- Successful entrance interview with Bay River College Administration
